Ashen was a wonderful looking game announced previously at E3 2016, this year saw a further look into the games interesting art style and revealed more about the games dark and enigmatic nature. The game appears to be similar to the Souls games that From Software have been crafting and creating for many years now, though this one has a unique art style and apparently a focus on Co-operative gameplay.
I have been thinking, for the entire time of this generation, that we have been missing Mascot Platformers. There have been very few games directed towards our younger player base that have the charm and gameplay styling of titles like Spyro the Dragon and even the Mario games of the world. This year saw the release of Team 17's YookaLaylee which seems to be indicating a revival of this missing genre, along side Naughty Dog remastering the Crash Bandicoot original trilogy. Microsoft announced one of many exclusives last night with a beautifully stunning platforming title called Super Lucky's Tale.
The Game is based round an adorable little fox who wears a little cape and goes on an adventure filled with strange and interesting creatures while collecting Gold Coins. Originally an Oculus Rift title, the announcement at the Microsoft E3 Press conference was a shock to many, but a welcome shock it was.
So many people raised their arms in the air last night in celebration, well I did at least, at Phil Spencer announcing that original Xbox games will now be included to the backwards compatibility line up. This announcement means that you will be able to play the games from 2 generations ago on your Xbox One console for free.
The news came with delight to the audience at the Los Angeles show as the original Xbox start up noise blasted nostalgia into the audiences ears. Phil Spencer was on stage letting the world know that engineers have been hard at work to bring out a catalogue of backwards compatible titles when the OG Xbox Backwards Compatibility goes live later this year.
Last night at E3 2017, Microsoft took to the stage and announced that Project Scorpio is now known simply as the Xbox One X. The name came as a little surprise as it looked like the console was going ahead to be called the Scorpio after its development name. Instead we were informed of a new name and shape for the console along with a barrage of information about the meticulous design and development of the console.
The console boasts a lot of exciting hardware and set out to be the most powerful console ever made, once the statistics and figures were laid out for all to see it was hard to deny that it will be anything but that. Phil Spencer was calm and collected on stage as he announced the details of the console before passing the presentation over to the head of Xbox Software engineering, Kareen Choudhry.
Battleborn came from the great minds at 2K and Gearbox, the great dynamic duo that brought Borderlands to our hearts and our consoles. Last year they released an arena FPS game which had a huge focus on multiplayer and yest still contained a trigger happy campaign. The biggest problem was that Blizzard released their monster title Overwatch at the same time roughly and buried this gem of a title.
