Developer Deck13 revealed their new title, The Surge, an action RPG coming to Xbox One, PC and Playstation 4. Its likely that The Surge will utilize the new Microsoft 'buy once and play anywhere' on either Xbox One or PCThe Surge looks to be a sci-fi twist on Dark Souls games with both games sharing similar controls, viewpoints and UI. It is reminiscent of Lords of the Fallen but The Surge has looked to create a more futuristic dystopian setting where weapons are not high tech weapons but machinery items. The main character and most human enemies are wearing some form of exo-suit with attachments that turn a simple heavy lifting exo-suit into one man killing machine.

There are a few gameplay videos out there that show off and interesting combat mechanic when the player locks on to an opponent and can target individual limbs or parts of a body. The Surge rewards players depending on their level of skill. If a player works towards executing an opponent in a certain way, they have a higher chance of loot. An example would be decapitating an enemy to increase the chances obtaining their helmet. However, The Surge is still showing alpha gameplay so we are not expected to see the souls' esque game until next year. Definitely one to watch for Dark Souls fans.

Well, another E3 has been and (almost) gone and, with it, came a bumper crop of announcements from Microsoft, topped off by the reveal of Project Scorpio - a console that is being dubbed the most powerful ever produced.

"But Andy!", I hear you exclaim. "What do you we do in the meantime? Project Scorpio is almost 18 months away!". Well, do I have some good news for you...because all those exclusive games, third-party blockbusters and hardware you saw announced for this year? They're all now available for pre-order on the Microsoft Store!

A few very important announcements were made at Microsoft's 2016 E3 conference, one of which being the new feature for games, named Xbox Play Anywhere. This will allow upcoming titles that have this feature to be played on both Xbox One and Windows 10, while only purchasing one copy of the game. This saves you money, and allows you to play with a larger community and in different ways. Cross platforming will also be supported by this feature, meaning no one will be left out on Windows 10 nor Xbox One.

An incredible amount of information was also shared regarding the upcoming Xbox One Summer Update. The update will include some of the most fan requested features, such as background music. Other additions include Cortana, not from Halo, but rather the helpful version from the Windows phones. There are also some new ways to socialise with your friends and community. The first being Clubs on Xbox Live, which allows you to create communities, for talking about games, sharing thoughts, and organising game nights. This feature is similar to groups on Steam. The second new way to interact is Looking For Group, which in short allows you to have a display message whenever a player goes onto a certain game. For example "I'm playing Halo 5. Come and join my team and own some noobs." The final major feature is Arena on Xbox Live, which is pretty self explanatory. You can organise tournaments, compete with players across the world, and sign up for any competitive matches that might be happening.

At Ubisoft's E3 conference a new game named Steep was revealed. We got to also see a good amount of gameplay, of which I will link at the end of this article. Steep is an open world sports game that will launch in December. It allows the player to ride in the Alps and Alaska in four different ways. You can use the skis, the snowboard, the wing-suit, or even the para-glider. The game features a drop in drop out system so you can play with your friends without any problems at all. You can also challenge your friends to take some of your deadliest routes, or challenge the world to beat your best tricks. This sports game looks like one that will blow all others out of the water, and I seriously look forward to it.
