As we near the end of the month we sit an wait patiently for all the "BS rumours" to stop and for the actual Games with Gold for the following month to be announced. November's Games with Gold were announced a short while ago by Major Nelson and here we have a somewhat mixed bag, some people will more often than not turn their noses up at the free games on offer.
Battle Chasers: Nightwar is a turn based JRP, which is developed by Airship Syndicate and published by THQ Nordic.
The background to the game is inspired by a late 90's comic book series: Battle Chasers. That was created by veteran comic book artist: Joe Madureira. Coincidently the Battle Chaser series is still un-finished and has a troubled publication history. Nightwar its self-started life as a project on Kickstarter, the project saw a total of 14,175 backers pledge a whopping total of $856,354 to bring the idea to life. After what has seemed like years since its debut on the Xbox 360 back in November 2010 Microsoft has finally admitted the Kinect is dead and has now officially stopped manufacturing the accessory. When the product launched it became the fastest selling consumer device and made its way into the Guinness World Records at the time. 20 years ago, it was hard to believe that a strangely animated TV show about crude children would be such a hit. Now in the modern day we have 20 series of possibly the most current TV show being made, where the storylines hit out about current weeks events and nobody is safe from the mocking. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are two giant names in the current entertainment industry; their humour sets out to entertain in what some people see as an offensive manner. No doubt their special brand of comedy has landed them in trouble with many a different celebrity and yet they have outlasted a lot of "celebrities". There have been TV series, a film and a few computer games; though it was not until March 2014 with the release of South Park: The Stick of Truth that we felt like South Park had finally cracked the interactive barrier.
3 years later we are now here to take a look at South Park: The Fractured but Whole, the sequel that redefines the RPG game with brilliant combat mechanics and a shed load of character customisation. Players will once again step into the role of "The New Kid", who not only ruled in the Stick of Truth; they now have to take on the evil under belly of South Park as a superhero in The Fractured but Whole. The transition from fantasy RPG to superhero RPG was a clever one, also one that did not raise too many questions as this is South Park after all and it is kids playing. When it comes time to create your character and chose what you look like and what to wear, there is a perfectly good reason to reset your stats and start from scratch all over again.
