I'm still playing The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. The game is just so vast and every side quest has me wandering from the main story all the time. I love it, but what I failed to grasp was Gwent. I had played a couple games and I don't know whether it was the tutorial or my attention, but I didn't grasp how Gwent worked.

Fast forward to Gwent getting itself its own release with stunning visuals and cross platform play, I've been playing the Beta for the last week, and I've been thoroughly enjoying it.

After the success of the first Halo Wars 2 Beta, 343 Industries quickly confirmed there would be a second one. Now the date and game mode for the beta has been revealed. The Halo Wars 2 Blitz Multiplayer Beta will be available from the 20th January to the 30th January.

Blitz mode is a card based strategy style game mode that combines deck building and fast decision making you'd find in a card-based strategy game with the combat and tactics you're used to using in an RTS. The map that will be available in the beta is named "Proving Grounds", and you'll be glad to hear that all progress made in the beta WILL carry over to the final copy of the game. There will also be prizes and such for being part of the beta so don't miss out!

Bethesda and id Software have unleashed the all new trailer for the multiplayer mode in the upcoming DOOM game! It looks like the game will feature some glorious high intensity combat like a mix of Halo, Quake 3 and a huge bucket of gore and entrails thrown in for good measure. Numerous weapons feature to tear apart the other people you will fight against and the trailer even shows off the awesome transformation gimmick - become one of the mighty demons from hell itself and devastate your opponents!

Watch the violent trailer now, not suitable for kids!

For those of you who didn't get a chance to try out the Battlefield Hardline Alpha Test last year and are keen to see where the game has gone in terms of changing things up due to complaints and concerns, you're in luck, and can try out the game first hand. On February 3rd, Hardline will be available on Xbox One and Xbox 360 in Open Beta form, for everyone to jump in and play.

In terms of content, you'll be getting to play three different modes (thanks to the Battlefield 4 community completing a community mission last week) on three different maps. Hotwire pits Criminals against cops as the thieves try to steal a list of marked vehicles, the cops have to repossess them. This game mode will be available on the maps Downtown and Dust Bowl. Conquest, the classic and familiar Battlefield mode is available on the Dust Bowl map, and is still up to 64 players for pure mayhem. The bonus mode, dubbed Heist, is coming to a map called Bank Job. Criminals have to break into a bank vault, and cops have to stop them. These modes introduce a lot of variety and differences to the Battlefield franchise, as there's not much of these specific modes in current or previous Battlefield games.

Last year, the announcement that the free-to-play MOBA-esque game, Smite, would be coming to Xbox One. Smite is unique in that all characters in the game are Gods from myths and legends, so a lot of them should be recognizable. From Thor, to a myriad to Egyptian gods, there's a ton there for anyone who's got a passing interest to try out. The other major unique mechanic in the ever growing MOBA genre is the fact that the game is locked to third person, rather than being a semi real time strategy view. This means that it plays very differently, and is something very fresh for anyone who's played similar games.

Smite is one of the few games in this new genre to hit the consoles, and it's just announced that a Beta will be happening very soon, which anyone can sign up for at this link. It's worth a try, and since the game is going to be free when it's released anyway, there's no reason not to at least give it a shot and see if it's something that you're into.
