Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 brings a sizeable roster of the most recognisable characters from both iconic franchises into a 3 vs 3 battle to save the universe from the hunger of Galactus!
Before I go into the nitty gritty of this review I will say I am a massive fan of both Marvel and Capcom. The series of Vs titles released by Capcom over the years has been relatively very good, it has been built on the stable and reliable rules of Capcom's own Street fighter brand of beat em up. Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 has a huge range of fighters to choose from when creating your team of galaxy saviours (or destroyers), these characters vary from the likes of Captain America to Ryu and then to the obscure which includes Phoenix Wright to Dormammu.
TheDead Risingfranchise first appeared to Xbox players as an exclusive title back in 2006, the franchise has then spawned many sequels and even warranted a re-mastered edition last on current gen consoles. The objective of every Dead Rising game is to survive a Zombie outbreak and usually follow some kind of schedule to complete story objectives. The game prides itself on the use of crazy and unorthodox weapons; these are usually created by combining two objects together to create something devastating and deadly. As the games have progressed thecombo weapons expanded intocombo vehicles allowing players to create more and more devastating zombie killing devices.
I will now say I have played every Dead Rising game to date and have found them to be fun, or at least I find them fun for a while and then the novelty wears off. I am not someone who has ever been enveloped by the concept of the game; in fact the only one I have ever actually completed was the original on the Xbox 360. I find the gamestimed elementto be rather intrusive and takes you away from the fun that you wish to have, you have to make decisions wither you want to have silly and gory fun, or be responsible and follow the games main story. The second game made the timed targets even more relevant by adding in a daughter whom you had to find medicine and return to her so she did not turn into a zombie. The third game removed the hard deadlines and replaced it with a final day where you had to be at a certain place for a certain time. Another point I have I have to mention is that the games controller layout scheme never seemed to follow any template for game I had ever played before. The controls always seemed very clunky and confusing; it was never a game where a person could just pick up and play if they were not familiar because the controls would not be in a familiar style.
The second outing for Arkane Studios, their Dishonored series reintegrates players with a blend of stealth gameplay and the mysterious and supernatural goings on that made the first game a stand out title. Moving location from dank and dark streets of Dunwall to a tropical setting of sun, sea and blood stained streets; the city of Karnaca is certainly no place for the good people to visit. The game overhauls its original formulae with a more grand vision and a new game engine to help make a bigger and better game.
Blizzard as a developer has been around for a very long time, they created one of my favourite Real Time Strategy games Warcraft 3. The team knows how to make compelling stories and characters, we have seen this is game series like Diablo and Starcraft. The games created by Blizzard are usually PC games, so when a rare treat from the industry veterans comes out on console you bet it is worth paying attention to.
