Awakening the Nightmare, the newest upcoming Halo Wars 2 DLC allows you to play as the Banished, as you fight the age old enemy of the Halo series, the Flood. While this DLC has been announced for some time, we have now been given new information at Gamescom as to when this DLC will launch; as well as some nice new art, screenshots, and a gameplay video. This new story DLC will launch on the 26th September, and will include a whole new firefight mode named Terminus Firefight. Terminus Firefight allows you to fight off against never ending waves of enemies, solo or with a friend. You can find the new images and gameplay below.
So today was the day that the new Halo Wars 2 DLC released. This being the leader Serina, and the two ODST missions entitled Operation Spearbreaker. For more information on the story DLC you can read more in my article here. This article will cover the full breakdown of the leader Serina, instead of just a sneak peak like the previous article. Below you can find the information on the new units, the new art, and the new achievements, as detailed by 343 Industries. You can find the link to the original article by 343I at the bottom of the page.
Serina, a much loved character from the first Halo Wars game, is back. Sadly not for the story, but for the fun multiplayer modes. Here's a little background information on Serina straight from 343 Industries:
“Serina was activated on January 7, 2530, by Daedalia Technology, a Martian firm well-known for the seeding and development of artificial intelligences for military and corporate markets. Serina was their greatest work of that era, an omni-capable second-generation “Smart AI” that displayed both impressive intellectual capacity and remarkable computational efficiency. Her assignment to the UNSC Spirit of Fire was fortuitous, despite a somewhat rocky period of acclimation to the ship’s unorthodox crew.
The long awaited news about some more Halo Wars 2 story DLC has finally been announced. Named Operation: SPEARBREAKER, this new two mission story DLC puts us back into our favourite none Spartan soldiers, the ODSTs. The DLC is set to revolve around a new Banished plot by Atriox’s during his ongoing struggle with Captain Cutter and the UNSC for control of the Ark. Promising to continue the story straight after the cliffhanger ending of Halo Wars 2s campaign, it's bound to be an exciting DLC for sure. We're also going to see Colony, the Hunter bad guy from the DLC a few months ago join in the campaign too, which is sure to stir things up.
Halo Wars 2 has received quite a warm welcome to the Xbox market from competitive and casual players. Halo is one of those franchises that has a die-hard fan base with the Spartan as a symbolic icon for the series. However, you can't play the original trilogy without fearing the Flood.
The flood were terrifying. A universe parasite that spread through systems and could reanimate any species and use their minds to control weapons and vehicles. So it is rather fitting the first expansion of Halo Wars 2 is Awakening the Nightmare that brings back the Flood.
