It feels like every 6 months we get a new LEGO game but why wouldn't we? There consistent success and development of mechanics are embraced by its target audience.
This year has given us Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 already which frames the first part of the trailer. On top of that, we see references to Civil War, Thor Ragnarok and Spiderman Homecoming. With the oncoming wave of Marvel films, it's refreshing to see the Marvel comedy reach out through games. And what better choice than through a LEGO game.
I am a massive fan of LEGO. Since playing with them as a child, creating my very own kingdom, weaving my own stories, the history of LEGO has a large affect on many individuals. I remember when the first LEGO games came about, LEGO racers, Lego Island and then LEGO STAR WARS: The Original trilogy hit the shelves and the boom was off. We were flooded with LEGO intepretations of comic book characters and film. And they have done very well. I myself have enjoyed a number of titles such as the STAR WARS and Indiana Jones games. The LEGO games managed to capture the films in a comic child friendly satire that was amusing for families to play.
Then last year we were told about a new game, LEGO WORLDS, a take on LEGO meeting Minecraft/Trove.
And its in LEGO form. The LEGO franchise has continued its successful movie series with a return the STAR WARS genre; this time with The Force Awakens, which was the logical step as it isnow known to everyone (If you haven't seen it then please come out from under your rock). LEGO have adapted the recent blockbuster into a another of its creative comedy games. Its much of the same as LEGO STAR WARS The Original Trilogy which came out way back in a galaxy far far away on PlayStation 2 with a few new welcome changes.
Unless you've been ignoring the gaming stratosphere for years, you'll know that Traveller's Tales are one of the most beloved studios around, making franchise-based movies into fun and family friendly Lego games, and the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens could only mean another game in the Lego Series of games.
Today Warner Bros. and Traveller's Tales have released a quick look at the ever moody and grumpy teen antagonist that is Kylo Ren, complete with angry teen bedroom.
During one of the many panels at San Diego Comic-Con Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment took to the stage to reveal some new characters that will feature in the upcoming Lego Marvel Avengers that will contain storylines from The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
These characters include Sam Wilson as Captain American, America Chavez and Crossbones. Stan Lee also made an appearance to announce his own characters that include a Stan-Lee inspired Hulkbuster suit aptly named the Stan-Buster and a Stan-Lee take on the Iron man Armour.
