If you are a fan of the Monster Hunter series then you have probably heard about its long overdue move onto consoles next year. 

Monster Hunter World brings the experience onto consoles and they have used that new power to develop a potential game of the year. For those of you who don't know the series, imagine you're JRPG style characters, large areas to explore, massive crafting system for weapons, armour and items and yourself a Monster Hunter game. The series originally started on PlayStation 2 but moved to PSP and then 3DS in more recent years. However Monster Hunter World looks to bring a whole new set of features and improvements.

For those of you who love handheld gaming such as myself, you may well have heard of Lock's Quest. It was a real time, strategy, tower defence game and the perfect blend of action, building and story, released back in 2008 for the Nintendo DS.  But how does it stack up now?

Firstly, this remaster is beautifully done with enhanced graphics, character portraits and soundtrack that make for a stunning feel. Each battle begins with a build phase in which you can spend the points you earn in the last battle called Source. Each wall, turret, trap and other defences cost this currency and it carries over, so the more you save, the more you have to spend but of course the less you have to defend yourself and your objective. After you have built your defences it is time to battle.

New ideas in triple-A development of games are always heartwarming to see. One that has seemingly snuck under the radar is Greedfall. Greedfall, by Focus Home Interactive, looks to be a 17th century RPG but with heavy elements of fantasy and magic. Check out the reveal trailer below

It's seems an eternity has passed since I first saw the first details of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The Kickstarter promised an RPG adventure in a true medieval world. From the looks of things, they have stayed true to their word with the development of an independent combat system and the choice to pursue any medieval life. 

This week, Warhorse Studios have revealed new details on their medieval sim. The team showcase the in depth armour layering as well as item quality and survival elements. Here's the video they released:
