With the Christmas period closing in, it can sometimes be hard to get a hold of that must have title, or know what exactly to get for a loved one before its to late. Being unable to send game titles digitally has meant either a physical copy of a title or a gift card, but that changes for Xbox One.
Select titles can now be gifted as long as you know, either the gamer tag or email address connected to your chosen recipients Xbox account. These can be bought along with Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions right from the Store on the family of Xbox consoles, Windows 10 or the Microsoft Store.
Of course there are benefits to owning a title digitally, most notably is that once purchased games will sit ready to be downloaded on the Xbox. Cloud saves mean you can access your titles and all your save data on any console you log into, as well as being able to resume from where you left off at home. Just in case you wanted more reason to use this new gifting, the title is delivered immediately and can be redeemed with just one click making this the perfect method for a last minute gift.
Of course the version of gifting has some limitations, such as not being able to gift Xbox 360 Backward comparable titles or Xbox Original titles. Pre-orders, in game consumables such as currency or PC titles other than select Xbox Play Anywhere titles are also not available for gifting as of yet, with no mention of when it might be available in future.
