It hasn't felt long since the last update to the Xbox One guide. However, this new update comes with a streamlined service for streaming and broadcasting gameplay. With the rise of streaming and streamers alike, Xbox is making the right move with its new Beam service and a revamped guide to make streaming a lot easier.
Not only is the Xbox Home page getting updated but the PC Xbox Hub is also getting streamlined to make the Play Anywhere feature easier to navigate.
A new feature to the dashboard is the addition of 'hero spots'. If you don't have a set background, then the current game you are playing will feature a screenshot of the hero. Quite an eloquent touch. UI has been shrunk to make browsing quicker and less clunky too.
The Xbox button has been revamped too, one click will bring up an overlay to quickly manage settings. On top of this, its easier to record gameplay and take screenshots as the gameDVR has been made more accessible from the Xbox button. Even better, you can now record gameplay for up to 10 minutes by changing the settings. This could make a nice quick review or showcase of a specific game or mission.
Multitasking has been made easier too, you can now track your achievements on screen while playing the game to better monitor your progress. The integration of Cortona also allows for new voice commands such as opening tools, changing musics and controlling a stream.
Something else that seems a little random is the copilot feature that allows two people on one console to control the game. This could make for great streaming material with players becoming frustrated, or it could make for clunky gameplay. Who knows?
