Capcom have dropped the bombshell that Resident Evil is to be released digitally early next year on the Xbox One and the Xbox 360. Originally released in 1996, then 'remade' in 2002, the series has gone on to sell in excess of 61 million units to date. This remastered version of the original is sure to sell well with those who have yet to sample the delight which is Resident Evil and even those fans of the series looking for a trip down memory lane.
This remade remake of Resident Evil will make use of the latest in resolution enhancement and 3D technology which sees the resolutions and textures being significantly upgraded and this equates to 1080p support on the Xbox One. The sound has also bee upgraded and now comes with 5.1 surround sound support to be able to better take in that all important atmosphere. There is also the option to play the game in the original 4:3 ratio or in 16:9 widescreen and with the addition of varying control schemes this is looking like a title where you the player are really in control of how you play the game.
There is currently no fixed release date other than early in 2015 but it will be a digital release on Xbox One and Xbox 360 across North America and Europe. Is this something you need in your life? Let us know your thoughts.
