The Walking Dead Collection

Telltale Games have been a beacon of storytelling stability for many a year now, it is refreshing and wonderful to see what they can turn their hand to a compelling story. They have transformed the Borderlands, brought Fables to life and even laid another dimension to Minecraft and Game of Thrones

The Walking Dead was certainly not the first game this company made, though arguably it changed everything and sent the studio into new heights and pushed the boundaries of a purely narrative driven game. The journey of Lee started in the back of a police car and journeyed into the story of Clementine, watching this young woman grow in a world without hope.

Telltale have announced that every episode of The Walking Dead to date will be compiled into a remastered collection and able to play under one metaphorical roof. The release date for this gargantuan collection is December 5th 2017, so expect to an emotional Christmas if you start playing this on release date.

The games in the collection will be -

  • The Walking Dead Season 1
  • The Walking Dead: 400 Days
  • The Walking Dead Season 2
  • The Walking Dead: Michonne
  • The Walking Dead: A New Frontier

The collection is being released ahead of next years already announced, The Walking Dead: The Final Season. Writer Gary Whitta will be back as a story consultant for both the Telltale and the Skybound Entertainment creative team. Gary was part of the BAFTA award winning team behind the first season of Telltales Walking Dead series, it will be good to know that someone who was part of the process that opened the gates on the series will be there to see them closed properly.

Whitta had this to say:
"Collaborating with Telltale on the first season of Clementine's journey through the world of The Walking Dead was one of the highlights of my career, so reuniting with them to now bring her story to a close with this final season feels like a homecoming," said Whitta. "Clementine has become not just one of the most compelling characters in the Walking Dead pantheon but one of the great video game characters of all time. I hope we're able to do justice to her and to her millions of fans. This one feels special."
