Halo 5 Local Servers Announced

Over the past 24 hours, a lot of Halo news was dropped during the Halo 5 2 hour live stream. This included plenty of information, all of which will be broken down on XBLG for all the Halo fans.
One of the big features announced was Halo 5 Local Servers. This was used at the HCS events and is now being brought to everyone. 343 Industries have confirmed that for future Halo games there will be support for classic local play as well as LAN. This has now been confirmed for Halo 5 too.
Halo 5 will provide the same gameplay experience as the pros use at tournaments. You will however still need an internet connection for Xbox Live, however silver or gold memberships both work. The local server app on Windows 10 will allow you to create such Local servers. The app must run on the same server your Xbox consoles are running on, and after that is set up, all you need to do is name the server and then launch the app.

The server browser on Halo 5 will allow you to choose which ever server you have running. If you have multiple PCs running multiple servers then you can choose between them. Your host server would then switch from Xbox Live to the local server. It is the lowest latency experience possible on Halo 5.
For HCS events this will allow fairness for everyone that plays in any brackets. As someone who went to London HCS last month, I can confirm that switching from an Xbox Live server to LAN for games was very noticeable and LAN is an incredibly different experience, so I look forward to this change for future events. Halo 5 Local Servers is also good for small teams and groups of friends who want to practice playing the game on a true LAN experience. All LAN stats will be public for all people in the API.
