A good game soundtrack not only compliments a fun game, it completes it. A game’s score often accompanies a near-indomitable challenge that our heroes are tasked with conquering.
Halo 2 was my first real AAA during yesteryear. Its score continued the tradition of being bigger and more bombastic. It certainly didn’t hurt to have a couple of entries from Breaking Benjamin and Incubus, to name a few.
Halo 2 Anniversary is bringing many of the same changes made in Combat Evolved Anniversary to Halo 2. The sounds are even getting a tweak: players using the upgraded graphics will hear new sound effects as well as a rescored soundtrack.
In the final weeks leading up to the release of The Master Chief Collection, 343 Industries has released a sneak peek of the new music we’ll be hearing next month in the form of six tracks. Five track of those tracks are short samples taken from different points in the game, but the sixth track is present in all its glory. It’s listed as the Gungnir Mix, but you might recognize it as a newer version of Halo theme Mjolnir Mix.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection comes out November 11th in the US, and November 14th in the UK.
