Yesterday 2K announced the debut of 2015 Hall of Fame inductee and global action film icon Arnold Schwarzenegger in to the roster of WWE 2K16, this years release in the flagship WWE franchise. Arnie is best knows for his roles in films, bodybuilding an political endeavors, however what is little known is that the Hall of Famer is also a huge fan of the WWE, and with this announcement he will expand his relationship with the WWE. There will be 2 playable characters available, the T-800 from The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day films. The characters will be made available to all those who pre order the game at participating retailers across all platforms.
When asked about his relationship with WWE and the chance to appear in the franchise as one of his biggest role, Arnie had this to say:
“I’ve achieved many things in my life, but I’ve always said success means staying hungry and pushing the limits. I was honored to join the WWE Hall of Fame earlier this year, and now I’ll continue my WWE legacy with one of my biggest film roles immortalized in WWE 2K16. Match the Terminator against Stone Cold Steve Austin, Seth Rollins or Daniel Bryan, and there’s only one possible outcome: Hasta la vista, baby!”
Chris Snyder, 2K’s Vice President of Marketing, was also asked about the prospect of working alongside Arnie to portray him in the game:
“Arnold Schwarzenegger is a living legend with universal appeal, a perseverance for greatness and a strong relationship with WWE, including his recent Hall of Fame induction, all of which make him an incredible fit for WWE 2K16. He’s a force to be reckoned with and defines what it means to raise some hell. Through his WWE 2K16 pre-order inclusion, fans simply can’t beat the opportunity to play as the Terminator in a WWE ring.”
There is no word as to what kind of move set is to be expected from The Terminator, but if I had to take a guess, I would say that he may play a little similar to The Phenom, The Undertaker, and have the raw power of the likes of Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.
Developed collaboratively by Yuke’s and Visual Concepts, a 2K studio, WWE 2K16 is currently scheduled for release on Xbox One and Xbox 360 and other platforms on October 27, 2015 in North America and October 30, 2015 internationally. Check out the announcement trailer below.
