Yesterday saw the announcement of the latest instalment in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six franchise entitled Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege and will see players engaged in sieges for the first time. This new assault mode sees enemies having the means to transform their strongholds into fortresses which the Rainbow Six teams then have to assault and breach.
These time out players will have the ability to reinforce walls and floors making use of barbed wire, shields and mines or if on the assaulting side by using drones or sheet charges. There will of course be a load more gadgets and gizmos available to play with, and this will most probably made known nearer to release.
Using Ubisoft Montreal’s Realblast engine Rainbow Six Siege is set to have destruction that is realistic whilst at the same time remaining unscripted. This then equates to players being able to use destruction to their advantage by either breaching the ceiling or floor for example.
Xavier Marquis, Creative Director at Ubisoft, rounds things off by saying,” Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is the game that Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six fans have been waiting for, and first-person shooter players will be drawn to its unique gameplay.” Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege will be available sometime in 2015 on Xbox One. In the meantime have a look at some multiplayer footage in the video below and tell us what you think.
