For those of you Halo fans that are excited that we’re getting two on-screen adaptions of Halo fairly soon, there’s some interesting news for you today. Footage has emerged of Ridley Scott’s (mind being Alien, Prometheus, among others) Halo Project, currently filming in Norther Ireland, which seems to be getting a lot of film makers, what with Game of Thrones also being predominantly filmed there.
Ridley Scott and David Zucker of Scott Free TV are acting as Executive Producers, while Sergio Mimica-Gezzan will direct the film. This follows on from some reports that this project in particular has recently signed it’s first cast member, Mike Colter, who features in The Good Wife and The Following, who will be playing a character called Marlow.
Microsoft has come out and said that the filming is now underway in Belfast, along with some information that 343 Industries, Xbox Entertainment Studios and Scott Free Productions are currently working on a Halo digital feature, with a release date of later this year.
Though there’s not really much we can gather from the footage above, it’s an interesting little tidbit of what might be to come. Considering the release is slated for later this year, I expect the filming period will be quite intense from here on out if they plan to be finished by the years end. After all these years though, we’re finally getting the progress towards a Halo movie that many fans have wanted in the past. We’ve had animations via Halo Legends, some very cool live action commercials and the incredibly well put together Forward Unto Dawn. It’s clear that Halo is a franchise that works on screen as well as on the controller.
Microsoft are set to make some Halo related announcements at E3, after recently stating that Halo 5 will be released next year. They have consoled fans saying that our Halo Journey on Xbox One will begin this year, so who knows what that refers to. Less than a week until we find out!
