Are you a Sky Go app user on your Xbox and you’re currently enjoying the pleasures of not having to turn on your Sky Box or perhaps get a second box fitted? Well unfortunately on the 29th July the use of this app will be rising to the heady cost of £5 a month.
Sky will be writing to all users shortly to inform them of the change with some packages starting at £2.50 but rising to £5.
Speaking with the people at Eurogamer a Sky spokesperson said :-
“Sky Go and Sky Go Extra mean our customers can watch their favourite Sky content on a broad range of devices, wherever they are. We will be making some changes to the way in which console users access Sky Go, and we will be writing to any customers who this affects over the coming weeks to update them.”
Obviously customers of this service are already not quite frustrated at this decision made by Sky and comments on the Sky Forum have said –
Annie+UK – “I agree, this is not the first time a free service has been taken away, Box Sets in OnDemand is another example. It does look like the bean counters are looking at every trick to milk customers”
t-hom-as – “Couldn’t agree more, I got the letter myself today. Ridiculous. I’m considering cancelling my Sky subscription completely – pay £47/month for TV & sports and still they want to extort more. Don’t they realise there are numerous competing platforms that their customers can ‘cut the cord’ and move to?”
How do you feel about this free service now being made subscription based? Will you continue using it?
