The LEGO Movie Videogame Tops the UK Chart

The LEGO Movie Videogame has entered this week’s UK game chart at number one, reigning over Lightening Returns: Final Fantasy XIII which debuted at number three. The LEGO Movie Videogame is now the third LEGO title in the UK chart.

This latest LEGO title is based on the recently-released movie (which is still out in cinemas and if you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it. It’s so much fun). If anything has made me want to play this game, it’s the brand-new trailer from IGN:

The trailer encapsulates everything that makes the movie awesome. With an entire environment made of LEGO bricks, 15 different levels and over 90 characters (Gandalf and Batman make appearances), The LEGO Movie Videogame looks to be as surprising and exciting as the movie.

Typical of LEGO titles, you can play with friends and family using the split screen co-op gameplay. The animation style looks exactly as it does in the movie; the movement of the LEGO characters mimics that of actual LEGO pieces, adding a slightly nostalgic feel to it as well.

The LEGO Movie Videogame is out now on Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, PS Vita, PC and PC Download.

LEGO Movie is a superb game – I’ve been left feeling a bit empty by the recent LEGO games, don’t get me wrong, I really like them but I’ve felt far too much of their game worlds have been real objects rather than made of LEGO. LEGO Movie goes back to its roots with everything being made of LEGO, plus there’s some nifty new gameplay elements too.

I will say one thing though, if you plan on watching the film then don’t play the game as it will spoil the plot and some of the scenes as it takes large chunks of film footage for the cut scenes.

Honestly, I can’t wait for LEGO The Hobbit 😛 I always enjoyed the LEGO games. Though really only liked LEGO LOTR…. I even felt the newer LEGO Star Wars was a bit boring. Couldn’t really explore as much. I haven’t played LEGO Marvel, but they must be doing something right if they are always releasing new titles and now a film 🙂

Thanks for the heads up…. might see the film first before I buy this game 🙂

LEGO Marvel was wicked! Seeing all of the Marvel characters popping up in their LEGO form had me grinning pretty much the whole way through the game. I am looking forward to LEGO The Hobbit, too, and am also tempted to pick up The Movie game soon, too..

Too much goodness coming out lol..

I enjoyed it, although I felt the story tailed off a bit and I just couldn’t find any love for the hub world. It felt far too much like a reskin of LEGO Batman for me.

I bought the LEGO movie game yesterday after writing this and yes, huge spoilers in the game. So folk might want to check out the film before playing the game. Only played it for a few hours but I absolutely love the feel of this game compared to previous titles. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a LEGO game – LEGO everywhere!
