Halloween Game Round Up!

Not up for slapping on your sexy-rotting-but-still-hot-corpse-who-is-also-some-sort-of-nurse-costume on this year and heading out for tricks or treats? No, me neither. I’d rather stay in, stick on a horror game and immerse myself in another world.
So, I have pulled together a short list of games that are free with the game pass, cheap on the store or just amazing and worth playing for this Halloween.

It’s Shocktober over on the Xbox store which means HUGE savings on some pretty epic games, some are even down by 70%!! I ain’t going to list all of them here as list is pretty extensive, so click here to view some of the titles.

My number one title that I recommend for Halloween this year, and would recommend any day to be honest, is Alien Isolation. My god I love this game. It is probably my favourite game of the last decade, no joke.
If you’re a sci-fi fan and enjoy the movies then this is a must, but even if you don’t it is still worth your time. You spend most of your time in the game hiding from the Xenomorph, which is stalking you and getting better and better at finding you. Never mind the dead-inside-androids. The Alien Isolation collection is currently available for 70% less than usual on the Xbox Store.

If you’re a fan of the Resident Evil games then you are in luck this Halloween. Not only can you bag yourself Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil 2 for free with the Xbox game pass but ALL the games are between 40-60% cheaper than normal with the Shocktober sale. I recommend RE7 if you fancy something really disturbing… its horrible.

A fan of Zombie games?? Well there is a wealth of choices available to you right now. Dying Light is a favourite of mine (buzzing for the new one!) and is 50% cheaper now with Shocktober!! It’s a really good open world type game. The basic idea is to do what you need to do before it gets dark. When it’s dark, the zombies are so much worse. Find a safe room and relax!

State of Decay 2 is free with the Game Pass (along with the original game too!). It’s your typical zombie game where you scavenge for weapons and supplies and run over the living dead with excellent sound effects. If you’re a massive game scavenger and hoarder like I am then you’ll love this. You can drag the game out for a long time by just exploring and interacting with NPCs with the option of an online feature. It’s not scary but definitely fun.

Interested in other zombie games? The game pass also has Dead Island Definitive EditionDead Island Riptide Definitive EditionDead Rising 2Dead Rising 3 and Deadlight: Director’s Cut.

If you like story driven psychological horror games then I recommend Layers of Fear and the Observer and you can read my reviews for them here and here, respectively.

There are plenty of other games on the Xbox Game Pass, such as Outlast, Doom (highly recommend) and the recently added Hello Neighbour which looks oddly creepy.

Happy Halloween!
