Halo 15th Anniversary Tribute

If you don’t know by now,  Xbox and Microsoft are celebrating 15 years of Xbox. From the old big chunky controller and box, to the legendary Xbox 360, the Xbox One that are in our homes now, and to the future Project Scorpio which will undoubtedly blow us away. Along with the celebration we have seen old throwbacks to games but the biggest one to journey with Xbox, is Halo.

If you are a die hard fan then you may have got a little emotional over that video. If you owned an Xbox at any time, or knew someone who did, you’ve probably played a Halo game. The franchise has spawned a killer overarching story, with television spin offs as well as other games. Not only that, Halo gave rise to the massive popularity of console online gaming and automatic competitive matchmaking. The mechanics as well for the game were also new at the time with regenerating healthbars and one button grenade throws, getting rid of the need to switch weapon in order to throw a grenade.

Halo itself has become its own genre and story-world, Master Chief is a recognisable icon in gaming, and as it says in the video “we’re just getting started”.

Halo Guardians left us on a cliffhanger, so who knows where we will follow the Master Chief next. With Halo Wars 2 out next year on Xbox One, there will certainly be time to revisit the lore and the denizens in the universe of Halo.

Tell us your favourite moments in the Halo franchise.
