From Funcom and the Bearded Ladies comes a new Tactical Shooter, but with a twist…
Have you ever wondered what the fallout of World War 3 would be? Well, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden explores that possibility after the world ends due to nuclear war and all of humanity is wiped off the face of the Earth.
From our ashes rise the mutants and monsters! Your squad of assorted heroes consist of some oddballs, such as Dux (a crossbow-wielding, walking, talking duck) and Bormin (a boar with serious anger issues). You have to help them through the crumbling, post-apocalyptic landscape to find sanctuary at the legendary Eden.
The game takes a lot of inspiration from the much loved XCOM series of games, and the developers aren’t afraid to hide it either:
“Our goal is to blend the deep and tactical combat of ‘XCOM’ with a branching storyline that unfolds as you explore overgrown forests and abandoned cities with your team of Mutants. Mixing that with real-time stealth gameplay gives you a unique way to approach or avoid combat situations you encounter while exploring.”
This blend of XCOM style tactical play with stealth and exploration really make for an interesting combo. Add that to the tongue-in cheek characters and MYZ:RE is set to be an absolute blast! If this has got you excited then fear not, release is currently set for December 4th so you won’t have to wait too long!
