Today we saw the amazing crew at Rare release a brand new trailer for Sea of Thieves. Not only is there a new trailer we have a release date for the next major content update, which is titled “Cursed Sails“. Announced at E3 as part of 2 upcoming major content additions, we see crews of skeletons take to the water instead of just waiting on islands.
This trailer is a dark and intriguing one indeed, the dead have taken to the sea and appear to be able to surprise you at a moments notice. While we know they are coming, it is interesting to see if we have to take down the ships or have to hunt down the captains. I really do hope they are not just a random spawn like the Kraken or Meg, where they are more of an obstacle rather than an objective.
Though at the time of writing we are about half way through the Mermaid statue quest for the Bilge Rats, these fortnightly quests have been a great addition and cause players to throw themselves out into the world. Exploration is now a massive part of the game rather than just island hoping for treasure, we now take time to appreciate the effort that went into the game.
A few of us at XBLG are big fans of the game, we play regularly, in fact we enjoy sailing with our community so do be shy to join our crew. Naturally we are excited for this next big update, the game has been accused of being too “bare bones” and “not enough to do”, both of which are subject to opinion.
We look forward to July 31st at 4PM (BST) for the latest chapter to open.
We now sit patiently on the deck and countdown the days until our newest foes rises from the water, join us if you dare.
